Job Overview
The Storekeeper will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and monitoring all food and non-food items used in catering operations. The role ensures proper documentation, stock rotation, cleanliness, and compliance with HACCP standards to prevent shortages, wastage, or operational disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Quality Inspection
- Receive food and non-food supplies in line with approved purchase orders
- Check quantities, quality, and expiry dates upon delivery
- Report shortages, damages, or discrepancies immediately
- Ensure delivery notes and invoices are accurately verified and recorded
Storage & Inventory Organization
- Store items correctly in dry stores, chillers, and freezers
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) practices
- Properly label, date, and arrange products to maintain hygiene standards
Stock Issuance & Control
- Issue materials to kitchen and service departments against authorized requisitions
- Maintain daily stock movement and issue records
- Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels
- Notify management when replenishment is required
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate stock cards or ERP system entries
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports
- Support physical stock counts and reconciliation processes
Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of all storage areas
- Record and monitor chiller and freezer temperatures daily
- Follow pest control, waste management, and cleaning schedules
- Comply with HACCP and ISO 22000 food safety standards
Coordination & Team Support
- Work closely with kitchen, procurement, and logistics teams
- Assist with loading and unloading of supplies when required
- Support internal and external audits
Job Requirements & Skills
- 3–5 years of experience as a Storekeeper (catering or food service preferred)
- Strong knowledge of inventory control and stock management systems
- Sound understanding of HACCP and food safety regulations
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) or Excel-based inventory tools
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Basic numerical and documentation skills
- Physically fit to handle warehouse operations
- Good communication skills for coordination with chefs and suppliers
