Role Overview: Alternate Compliance Officer

The Alternate Compliance Officer will support the company’s overall compliance function, ensuring adherence to AML/CFT laws, internal policies, and regulatory standards. The role involves assisting with compliance monitoring, internal controls, reporting, and regulatory alignment while maintaining high standards of integrity and confidentiality.

This position is well suited for professionals with prior compliance experience in regulated financial institutions who understand the importance of practical, auditable, and risk-based compliance operations.

Key Responsibilities

AML/CFT Compliance Support

• Assist in ongoing AML/CFT monitoring activities
• Support Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes
• Ensure compliance controls follow a risk-based approach
• Maintain accurate compliance documentation and records

Regulatory Implementation

• Interpret AML/CFT regulations and apply them to operational processes
• Support internal compliance policies and procedures
• Ensure alignment with CBUAE standards and guidelines
• Promote a strong internal compliance culture

Monitoring & Escalation

• Identify unusual or suspicious transaction patterns
• Support escalation and internal reporting procedures
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure regulatory readiness

Job Requirements

Mandatory Certification

• ACAMS certification or an equivalent internationally recognized AML/compliance qualification

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant compliance experience within a regulated financial institution such as:
  • Exchange houses
  • Banks or financial services companies
  • Institutions with structured AML/CFT programs

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of AML/CFT laws and regulations
• Practical experience with compliance controls and enforcement expectations
• Working knowledge of CBUAE regulatory standards
