Modon Hiring General Assistant – Facilities & Customer Service Career Opportunity

Job Overview
As a General Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining smooth daily operations at the Velodrome. The position focuses on cleanliness, safety, operational readiness, and delivering an inclusive and welcoming experience for all visitors. You will support events, assist customers, maintain equipment, and help uphold high service standards across the facility.
Health, Safety & Compliance Responsibilities
Safety is a top priority at Modon facilities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the health and safety of customers, staff, visitors, and contractors
- Supporting daily, weekly, and monthly statutory operational checks
- Following Normal Operating Procedures (NOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures
- Assisting with critical incident management and reporting issues to the Duty Manager
- Maintaining full compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
Customer Service & Front-of-House Duties
Providing excellent customer service is central to this role. You will be responsible for:
- Welcoming customers and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Acting as a key contact point for enquiries, complaints, and documentation
- Handling customer concerns with empathy and professionalism
- Supporting reception and front-desk operations when required
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Velodrome facilities, events, and programmes
Operations & Facility Support
To ensure operational readiness, the General Assistant will also:
- Assist with cleaning and tidying indoor and outdoor areas
- Set up and dismantle equipment for sessions, events, and programmes
- Issue hired equipment and fleet bikes to customers
- Monitor locker usage and bike storage areas
- Collect, clean, and prepare equipment kits for reuse
- Support basic inspection and maintenance of bikes and equipment
Sales, Promotion & Team Collaboration
Additional responsibilities include:
- Upselling Velodrome products and services based on customer needs
- Supporting promotional and outreach activities
- Working closely with team members to ensure smooth operations
- Assisting People of Determination to ensure accessibility and inclusivity
- Working flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and event days
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in English (additional languages are an advantage)
- First Aid and Defibrillator certification is preferred
Experience & Competencies
- Experience in a customer-facing or service-oriented environment
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in leisure or event settings
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards
- Cultural awareness and a positive, inclusive mindset
