Position Overview: Receiving Clerk

As a Receiving Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth and accurate receiving operations within the hotel. The role involves handling incoming deliveries, maintaining proper documentation, and ensuring all goods meet quality, quantity, and safety standards.

This position requires close coordination with purchasing, finance, and operations teams to maintain efficiency, compliance, and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming goods against approved purchase orders
  • Ensure accuracy in quantity, quality, and product specifications
  • Report and document shortages, damages, or discrepancies promptly
  • Maintain accurate daily receiving logs and inventory records for food and non-food items
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Accounts Payable for proper documentation and reconciliation
  • Follow HACCP standards during receiving, handling, and storage of goods
  • Keep receiving and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
  • Perform additional duties assigned by management as required

Qualifications & Skills

  • College diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Prior experience in a similar receiving or materials control role (hospitality preferred)
  • Sound knowledge of inventory and materials management procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities
  • Physically fit to lift and move items of varying weights
  • Basic mathematical skills for counting and reconciliation
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of HACCP standards is an added advantage
